The Scientist Who Discovered Nicotinamide Riboside Talks About NAD & Staying Healthy As We Age

A form of vitamin B3 is getting a lot of press buzz lately, mostly for its ability to effectively raise levels of an essential molecule known as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). In this episode of the Live Long and Master Aging (LLAMA) podcast, Peter Bowes sits down with Dr. Charles Brenner, the scientist who discovered the unique role this form of vitamin B3 (NR) plays in our cells. They discuss how NR increases NAD, and the many ways NAD increases cellular energy production and even helps regulate circadian rhythms. Hesitant to call NR a miracle supplement, Dr. Brenner also details why we should focus on healthy aging as opposed to anti-aging.

Peter Bowes is the host of the Live Long and Master Aging podcast as well as a radio, digital, and television correspondent for various outlets including for BBC Television. While he covers a breadth of topics that range from tech to politics, he frequently focuses on the science of human longevity.
